Students and staff will become effective, efficient, and responsible users of ideas and information in the 21 st Century in order to learn, work, and live in a digital, knowledge-based global society. The Library Media Center will foster authentic learning and assessment within and beyond the curriculum by providing access in all formats, providing instruction to create a lifelong interest in viewing and reading, and to help design learning strategies with other educators.
Impact of School Library Media Centers
In 2006, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction commissioned the "Student Learning Through Wisconsin School Libraries." Its purpose was to study how public school library media programs and school library media specialists contribute to student success in Wisconsin. According to the results of the study, evidence indicates that Wisconsin public school libraries contribute measurably to the academic achievement of students. Test scores were higher at all grade levels.
